Organised for the first time in Belgium!

CSIT Swimming Championships

Belgium will have the opportunity to host the CSIT Swimming Championships for the first time in 2024.

Fros, in collaboration with the Fros Swimming Cell and underlying clubs, will organise this international swimming competition.

When?

This championship will take place from Monday, August 26 to Friday, August 30, 2024.

Where?

This championship will take place from Monday, August 26 to Friday, August 30, 2024.

For whom?

Swimming youngsters aged between 12 and 24 (as well as +25 years), affiliated to Fros.

Registration?

Pre-registration:

deadline 22 April 2024.

Final registration:

deadline 24 June 2024.

What is the CSIT?

The CSIT is the international multisport organisation that enables amateur athletes to rise above themselves. Top sport at amateur level so to speak!

Founded in 1913 in Ghent, Belgium, CSIT was founded on the historical ideas of the international labour movement. In recent decades, they have refocused and grown into a broad international Sport for All – Confederation with more than 200 million members. By organising major sporting events worldwide, establishing international networking platforms, involvement in EU projects and developing educational programmes, they are guided by one guiding principle:

Spirit of Sports – Spirit of Unity

They offer all non-professional athletes a sustainable and unique stage for competition in a spirit of friendship and global citizenship.

CSIT World Sports Games

The World Sports Games (WSG) is a major open international event for amateur athletes that takes place every two years and welcomes thousands of participants per edition. It consists of a wide range of competitive and non-competitive sports played simultaneously and in the same region. Based on the idea of the former International Workers’ Olympics of the 1920s-1930s, WSG creates a unique atmosphere of tolerance, respect, sustainability, and fair-play. The whole thing is more than sports competitions alone, also organising a big festival with the aim of gathering sports friends, making lifelong friendships, promoting the exchange of information, know-how and experiences within the specific sport or sports overlap.

CSIT Championships

The World Sports Games (WSG) is a major open international event for amateur athletes that takes place every two years and welcomes thousands of participants per edition. It consists of a wide range of competitive and non-competitive sports played simultaneously and in the same region. Based on the idea of the former International Workers’ Olympics of the 1920s-1930s, WSG creates a unique atmosphere of tolerance, respect, sustainability, and fair-play. The whole thing is more than sports competitions alone, also organising a big festival with the aim of gathering sports friends, making lifelong friendships, promoting the exchange of information, know-how and experiences within the specific sport or sports overlap.

And it is under this latter heading that the CSIT Swimming Championships will now be organised in Belgium for the first time.

CSIT Swimming Championships

Fros gets this opportunity as the Fros Swimming Cell has been participating in these CSIT World Sports Games and Swimming Championships for 17 years. Together with its underlying swimming clubs, as well as the local services, we wish to make it a top edition!

Fros Swimming Cell

The Fros Swimming Cell is the umbrella structure of Fros clubs that wish to take part in an organised (recreational) swimming competition.

They organise and support all umbrella Fros competitions:

Who can participate?

All Fros affiliated swimmers with Fros-CSIT limit times.

All CSIT affiliated federations from abroad.

Participating groups consist of:

1 delegation leader
2 coaches
Unlimited number of swimmers
Unlimited number of supporters

Sports Technology

The CSIT Swimming Championships consists of several competitions covering all disciplines and all styles of swimming. These competitions are swum over different distances (from 50m to 400m) and each time divided by age and gender.

Both individual and team (relay race) competitions take place.

Programme

The CSIT Swimming Championships will take place from Monday 26 August to Friday 30 August 2024.

Arrival day

On these days, all delegations will arrive and will be able to enjoy transport from the airports and train station to the hotel. Here, they will be welcomed by the organisation and receive all necessities.

Monday 26 August

Training day

On this day, there will be an opportunity to have a final training session during opening hours before the competition days.

Tuesday 27 August

First day of competition

All of us will spend the whole day at the Brigitte Becue swimming pool. The first day of competition will start with an opening ceremony. Then the first matches will start.

Wednesday 28 August

Second day of competition

Today, the Brigitte Becue pool will host the second part of all competitions. Moreover, this last day will also end with a closing party at the hotel!

Thursday 29 August

Departure day

On this day, all delegations will depart back home, and once again enjoy the necessary transport towards the airport or train station.

Friday 30 August

Swimming pool

The sports venue is the beautiful 50-metre Olympic swimming pool “Brigitte Becue” in Ostend.

Facilities

The swimming pool is equipped with the necessary changing rooms and storage lockers.

Clothes

In swimming pool Brigitte Becue, you swim hygienically and safely. Only tight-fitting swimwear in towelling is allowed, without pockets or zips. The pool staff strictly enforce this.

This is forbidden:

Loose-fitting swimwear and swimwear with loose parts.

Underwear under swimwear.

Catering

Lunch will be provided in the pool every day.

Hotel accommodation

The hotel for all athletes and coaching staff is the Hotel Vayamundo, and is located right by the North Sea. So you can watch the beautiful view every day of your stay!

Prices

Single room: 550 EUR/person

Double room: 440 EUR/person

Triple room: 440 EUR/person

Quadruple room: 440 EUR/person

Appartment 5 persons: 430 EUR/person

Appartment 6 persons: 420 EUR/person

We ask that athletes sleep in multi-person rooms as much as possible.

There is also the possibility of booking extra days.

All prices include breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Transport

The venue of the CSIT Swimming Championships is the city of Ostend, and is very easy to reach.

By plane

There are 4 possible airports:

Ostend Airport
Brussels Airport
Charleroi Airport
Lille Airport

From the airport, the organisation will provide a transfer with the hotel, both on arrival and departure.

By train

Ostend has a train station 2.8 km from the pool, and 4.3 km from the hotel.

Within Ostend, it is quite obvious to get around easily and quickly by public transport.

On site

The hotel is only 1.7 km from the swimming pool where all training and competitions take place:

By car: 4 min.
By public transport: 12 min.
By bicycle: 7 min.
By foot: 23 min.

Am I insured while participating in CSIT Swimming?

All participants are insured by Fros for Physical Accidents and BA, in collaboration with Ethias. Do you have something before during the championship? If so, please inform the on-site organisers.

Do you have to belong to an Fros swimming club to participate?

Yes, only Fros members can participate in this championship.

Is the pool accessible for supporters?

Yes, space is provided in the pool for supporters. You can also watch from the cafeteria.
